Multi-Location Listings Checklist: 12 Things to Keep Identical Everywhere

The short answer: pick one source of truth for every location and make sure these twelve details match on every map, directory and navigation platform. When two platforms disagree, customers get sent to a closed door and AI assistants have a reason to doubt you.

The twelve details

  1. Business name, written exactly the same way
  2. Street address, including suite number
  3. Primary phone number
  4. Website address for that specific location
  5. Regular opening hours
  6. Holiday and special hours
  7. Primary and secondary categories
  8. Business description
  9. Photos and logo
  10. Service area, if you travel to customers
  11. Appointment, booking or menu links
  12. Attributes such as parking, accessibility and payment types

Why small mismatches matter

A wrong closing time on one directory sends a customer to a locked door. An old suite number on another makes the same location look like two different businesses. Duplicates split your reviews and your visibility.

A simple process

  1. Choose the source of truth. One spreadsheet or dashboard per location, owned by one person.
  2. Audit. Check the major maps, navigation platforms and directories for each location and note every difference.
  3. Suppress duplicates. Merge or remove extra listings rather than leaving them to drift.
  4. Push the corrections. Update every platform from the source of truth.
  5. Watch for changes. Customers and others can suggest edits, so check regularly.

Where multi-location teams slip

  • Hours changed at the location but not centrally
  • A closed location that still has a live listing
  • Different website addresses used in different places
  • A franchisee updating a profile outside the process
